Meet Our Trustees

My name’s Craig and I’m George’s Dad and chair of trustees at the charity we set up in memory of our music loving son George, who devastatingly we lost to leukaemia in 2019.

We set the charity up because we met so many children like George in his 5 year battle with leukaemia who spend a huge amount of their time in hospital without being able to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a child like seeing friends, going to the park or riding a bike. A lot of them are isolated from family as George was due to his immune system so having creative ways to express their emotions and anxieties is crucial to their wellbeing while dealing with the trauma that illness and disability brings.

As well as being a Dad to George and Isabella his sister, I am a Gas Engineer and a drummer with a huge love for music and our creative musical fundraisers!

Hi I’m Maisie and I am a trustee at George’s Rockstars. I first found out about the charity when I worked alongside Amy (the founder) as an Anaesthetic Practitioner. I thought from the offset how incredible it was and definitely felt with my background in Music Therapy from my previous career I have to be apart of this and wanted to give something back…

Working in the NHS as an Operating Department Practitioner and Critical Care Technologist. I can see and have experienced how music therapy can empower and have such an amazing impact on the overall well-being of children and I am so excited that we can bring it to the children on Paediatric Intensive Care next year!

I’m Dean and I have been a trustee at George’s Rockstars for quite a few years now. My daughter Faith went to school with George during his brief time at school before he passed away and he really was an inspiration.

Like a lot of us, I am fortunate enough that I haven’t had to deal with the harsh reality of having a seriously ill child but have seen just how many children like George spend huge amounts of time in hospital missing out on normal childhood experiences.

George’s Rockstars has grown into an absolutely amazing children’s charity and I get to see first hand the impact the music is having on families at the toughest time possible, I can’t wait to help ensure if goes from strength to strength! I’m really proud of Amy, Cathy and everyone for what the charity has become!

Nicola is musically trained, plays the flute, piano and cello and is a Graduate in music from Royal Holloway, University of London.

She has worked for the last 16 years for a FTSE250 recruitment business, Page Executive, focussing on supporting global companies to hire great leaders.

She continues to apply her love for music outside of work and is passionate about the value of music therapy and how its accessibility of this can help educate, aid communication and provide lots of fun for children in hospital. Nicola also plays in the amazing Fleet Rock Orchestra!

Hello I’m Katie and I am a trustee at George’s rockstars and a vocalist on the new Christmas single! I am a rocksteady bandleader who found a passion in helping George’s Rockstars through our foundation work! I teach rocksteady at what was George’s school and I have seen the love the school had for George! I unfortunately didn’t start teaching until a little later and never got to meet George but he is a very inspiring little boy who has for sure left an impact!

I am very passionate about empowering children through music and I love to get involved with any George’s Rockstars events possible! I recently have started bringing musicians into the hospitals George’s Rockstars is at and have provided rock band days to give children the opportunity to be in a band through Rocksteady Music School! I’m honoured to be a trustee for George’s Rockstars and truly believe that music is the best therapy!

My name is Mark and I became a trustee at George’s Rockstar’s because helping children in hospitals to access music is important work, and I felt that my skillset could make a difference. As founder of Rocksteady Music School , I’ve overseen the growth of the organisation from teaching it’s first student to reaching tens of thousands of children every week, and being able to use what I’ve learned to help children who can’t access music at school is deeply meaningful.

Also, George was a fellow musician and Rocksteady student, so when I heard that his parents were setting up a charity in his memory, I decided to do whatever I could to help. It’s an incredibly exciting project with so much potential for making a difference and I’m looking forward to helping it grow over the coming years.

My name’s Daniel and I’m a proud trustee for George’s Rockstars. I was lucky enough to meet, teach and make music with George and was able to see how the magic of music provided an essential creative escape from the challenges he was facing.

I became a trustee because I want to continue to share the joy of music with the people that need it the most.

I’m a deeply passionate musician and songwriter. In my spare time I write and record my own solo music under the name Teenage Waitress. I also write bespoke arrangements for Rocksteady Music School and lecture on songwriting at The University of Winchester.
